More first responders die by suicide than many other causes. The stigma of mental health and fear of job loss or reduction are many reasons they don’t seek mental health help. Many may also not seek help because they don’t want to retell or relive the difficult event.

Heart & Mind would like them to know there are ways to get help without having to tell an entire story of what happened or relive negative job experiences. The Safe & Sound Protocol and certain EMDR protocols can bring relief without the reliving or retelling of the trauma. To heal trauma it’s more about the impact and effects of the trauma, not the details of what happened. Neuroscience has shown us how to do that effectively.
