The Monster at the End of this Book

This was absolutely my favorite book as a child. Even when I knew the ending I still delighted in Grover’s attempts to stop me from turning the pages. It may have been my oppositional streak or enjoying the power I felt in that teensy bit of defiance. Or maybe it was the fear Grover was showing and it let me know being scared is ok, even monsters get scared.

Not sure it’s exact appeal it had for me then but I made sure it was in my grandkid's room so we can read it when they visit. As a therapist, it’s also a great book to explore anxiety and anticipation! Love me some lovable, furry old Grover!
